In my opinion, through observation and experience, the hardest
thing about burning fat this time of year is all the Sunday
football games.
More specifically, all the snacks we eat during the game
mindlessly for 2 hours.
- Chips
- Dips
- Finger foods
- Microwaveable crap food
- Beers and sodas
Personally, my favorite is the Buffalo Chicken dips my
girlfriend makes. This gets me every time.
YES! I am human and it’s hard for me to resist as well.
As much as I am going to want that buffalo chicken dip, I will most
likely have no desire to eat it at Tomorrows game.
Why?
Because I follow three easy steps to repel snacks
And I want to share my 3 step snack repellant with
you…right NOW!
Ready?
Here I go…….
Got a pen and paper out? Good…..
Step #1: Eat lunch (or breakfast if you sleep in on Sundays like me)
By eating a balanced Lunch (a portion of starchy carbs, a non
starchy vegetable, some healthy fats and lean protein) before or
during the game, it will make you way less likely to snack on those
foods. You simply won’t want to eat anything, especially snacks.
Step #2: Be aware of Mindless Eating
This one is HUGE! (And your waist will be too if you don’t
follow it!) For most of us, eating has become a mindless task to do
while multitasking (driving, reading, watching TV, reading this
e-mail….yes you!……put that Bag of flaming’ hot Doritos
down!). Think about it for a second. When was the last time you sat
down and ate a meal without doing anything else?
By breaking this bad habit, you will be less likely to repeat
it in the long run. Make it a rule for you not to eat while
watching TV anymore.
Step #3 Keep your hands busy/full
If you’re use to eating in front of the TV, part of the habit
is just keeping your hands/body occupied and you’re most likely use
to doing that with food. Give your hands something else to do. Grab
a football, cuddle up with your significant other, sit with one of
your kids in your lap, WHATEVER! Just keep your hands occupied so
they are less likely to wonder to the chips, dips and snacks.
If you can make it through the entire game without snacking,
reward yourself by grabbing just a few of the finger foods that you
were missing out on during the game. But just enough to satisfy
your craving without going overboard. That way you can have your
cake and eat it too! (Or in my case buffalo chicken dip!)
Talk to you soon!
Stay Motivated and keep moving,
Mike Salvietti
